Center Parcs

(posted by Elizma)

This last week we spent at Center Parcs Longleat (near Bath) with Leon's parents, his sister Tania and her boyfriend, Andy.

What a lovely place! We can't believe we've been in the UK for 9 years and have never been. I must say we were very lucky with the weather as it was nice and that adds a lot to a holiday there.

You are only allowed to take your car to your villa on arrival and again to pack for departure. It is a totally car-free park and we had to walk or cycle everywhere, or take the free trains. This is another reason why good weather is important - or you'll get totally soaked.

We hired some bikes and enjoyed ourselves immensely. First thing Liam asked every morning when he opened his eyes was to go and play on the climbing frames. They were every child's dream. We loved the swimming pools with the rapids and flumes. At first Liam was really scared, but by the end of the weekend he couldn't get enough - of even the highest one.

He also got to stay up until 22:30 one evening - having a second dinner ('rysies en sousies') at 21:30!

The week flew past and we can't wait to go again. More photos here.

Signs of the time

(posted by Elizma)

Another big milestone for Liam today - he graduated from his cot to a bed. His own 'groot bed' (big bed). And he also moved from his sleeping bag to a duvet and pillow.

Big changes, but as with everything, he took it in his stride.

It will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow morning. Will he get up or stay put? I'll have to double check the child-proofness of his 'floor' before we go to bed tonight.

Here are some photos.
