London 2012

(posted by Elizma)

While we were watching the opening ceremony of the Olympics in Beijing some 16 days ago, Leon, his sister Tania and I talked about London's chances of matching the splendour of the opening ceremony. None of us could imagine that we could do it.

I was of the opinion then that I wouldn't be surprised if all the London 2012 opening and closing ceremonies were, were big music concerts. The British seem to celebrate and commemorate everything with a concert of some sort.

Well, my fears were kind of confirmed with last night's poor showing at the closing ceremony in Beijing. Not only were the 8 minutes of the British show nothing spectacular, but it was also mostly a music show. And though Leon and I both love hard rock, neither of us thought that it captured the spirit of the Olympics at all. We were very dissappointed and really hope that London can only improve on it in time for 2012...

So where are we off to?

(posted by Elizma)

Liam's British passport arrived this week. To celebrate, we will be going to the lake district and alps in Northern Italy in September. We have to introduce him to our favourite country as early as possible so that he can grow to love it as much as we do...

Something new every day

(posted by Elizma)

Liam has in the last week or so started to grab hold of things. It's been fun watching him reach out to things and his expression when he actually gets hold of it - as if he doesn't know what to do then!

Today he played with a teddy bear that his cousins Suzelle and Luzaan gave him. I think it will become a much loved toy...

10 weeks today!

(posted by Elizma)

Liam is 10 weeks old today. Only 10 weeks... It feels like his been around much longer and sometimes I have to remind myself that's all he is - 10 weeks. Still such a small little thing - but full of so many antics already...
