Not even a peep...

(posted by Elizma)

And so the 26th of May came and went quietly. Expectedly, I must say, as apparently only 5% of babies are born on their due date.

We had a very relaxing weekend during which we just enjoyed each other's company. The stay in Tania's hotel was lovely and the Mum-to-Be massage that Leon surprised me with is highly recommended - even if you're not pregnant!

On Saturday evening we went to see Indiana Jones. We realise it might be a while before we have another opportunity to go to the movies.

Sunday we watched the Grand Prix - probably the most exciting Monaco Grand Prix ever - and went for afternoon tea at Saville Gardens in the Windsor Great Park with Leon's parents afterwards .

Yesterday was spent shopping and visiting friends. So all in all a good weekend.

A few people have asked me about pictures of my pregnant belly - at which point we realised we don't have any! So we've taken some. Here's one for those of you who are interested as well as an idea of what the nursery looks like (I'm very proud of the dresser - an Ebay find)...

And now, the end is near...

(posted by Elizma)

It feels like I say that every weekend. But it now almost truly is the last weekend we'll be working to get everything in the house ready for the arrival of our precious baby.

Leon spent the whole day today cleaning all the carpets - his energy sometimes surprises me. Once he gets going, he just doesn't stop! I am really proud of him. I was not of much help today - as the machinery was too heavy for me to operate.

We also hung the curtains that Leon's mother made for the nursery. They look great. Thanks MaRia!

Tomorrow we'll be putting up bits and pieces around the house such as toilet roll holders and towel hooks in our new loft shower room. And that's it! What's not done by tomorrow evening can wait until after the babies arrival and when we feel like it again.

Next weekend is a bank holiday (Monday is a public holiday and also the expected arrival date) and Leon has taken the Friday off as well. If all goes according to plan, baby will stay nice and cosy until the 27th and we'll have one last weekend to relax and enjoy each other's company - and some well deserved final lie-ins.

Tania (Leon's sister) has also very kindly offered us a room in her hotel and free use of the spa facilities. We'll be staying there on Thursday night and spend Friday hanging around the spa. We're spoilt rotten - thanks Tania!

We have our house back!

(posted by Elizma)

Today has been a great day. After more than three months of building works and living in only 3 of our rooms (the rest being used for storage), the cleaners came in for the deep clean. And it's great!

I can suddenly see the house we love again. For some time it wasn't very 'likable'. But it's back. And I'm falling for it all over again...

We've moved up into the loft - it's huge and I'm in the process of buying a sofa to help fill it. But it was worth all the effort. (There are still tiny bits and pieces to be done, but nothing urgent and we deserve a rest. We'll post some photos at a later stage. And a HUGE thanks to Dad Bill for all his help over the last few weeks - we couldn't have done it without him!)

Another reason today was great, was that it was the first day since going on maternity leave 3 and a half weeks ago that there was nothing I HAD to do with regards to tradesmen or the building work or anything else. (In the afternoon at least - in the morning I had to drive to the dump with a car load of rubbish! Not bad for someone who has only just over a week of pregnancy to go - even if I have to say so myself!) I could actually relax on the living room sofa and read my magazine. Now I only hope this little darling is really cosy where he/she is so that I have at least one week of doing more of the same before it's all change again. If he/she comes on time or late, Leon and I will at least have next weekend's bank holiday to enjoy some time together.

But now, I'm off for a nap...

Another baby milestone

(posted by Elizma)

We fitted the car seat today. It felt weird, but VERY exciting at the same time. I'm sure it will take us a few days to get used to the foreign object on the back seat. Only for it to then be filled with one that's a bit noisier...
