Visiting Oupa Bill and Ouma Ria

(posted by Elizma)

As if we haven't squeezed every minute out of this weekend already, we visited Leon's parents today and spent another lovely afternoon in the sun. Here are some of the photos we took - it's only later that I realise they're all of Liam! I need to concentrate to take photos of other people/things too!

Crawling is painful on the cement, so he made a plan very quickly!

Liam loves climbimg up and down steps - adventure!

He's really starting to enjoy his walker now too and we think it won't be long before he's walking properly

We bought Liam a Bulls T-shirt in South Africa. Actually, it was more for Oupa Bill (we're DEFINITELY not Bull supporters - far from it!) But after the Bulls victory in the Super 14 semi-final, we thought we'd make Oupa Bills day...

Glorious weather

For the first time in so many bank holidays the weather was actually good. In fact, it was the best weather we've had all year. I really notice how my spirits lift on days like these...

On Sunday morning we Liam's friend Harry and his Mom over. In the afternoon we barbequed with our friends Laura and Paolo and their little ones, Theo and Fabio. We spent hours in the garden - what a lovely day!

London

On Saturday we went to London to do some sightseeing. I haven't been there in years and really enjoyed it.

We walked from Waterloo to Covent Garden, Piccadilly Circus, down Regent Street, Oxford Street, Trafalgar Square and back to Waterloo again. It was a good few hours walking. We also went into Hamleys with Liam, but he was fast asleep at that point - unaware of the paradise around him.

Soft play

(posted by Elizma)

At this age, children seem to surprise and amaize you around every corner. Last week we took Liam to a soft play area. He's been getting increasingly more mobile in pulling himself up and getting around and I thought he might enjoy it.

For the first 10 minutes I had some doubts as he was just sitting there looking at all the other children. But boy! When he went off he was like a little monkey. I've never seen him like that. He was climbing up the slip-and-slide from the bottom and dodging several obstacles in one of the tunnels with such ease that I was completely taken by suprise. Where on earth did he learn all that?

I really wanted to take some more pictures, but was to occupied with making sure he doesn't break his neck - this was the only one I managed. I'll try to take some more next time.

The sand pit

(posted by Elizma)

Liam loves his sand pit. However, the sand pit doesn't always love him back...

Whilst playing in it this week, he got some sand in his eyes that caused him quite some agony over 3 days. After a trip to the doctor and some antibiotic drops, he's much better. I'm not to keen for him to go back into the pit for a while yet!

These are some pictures of him in happier sand pit times and being rinsed afterwards.

Mother's Day

(posted by Elizma)

Today was Mother's Day in South Africa, and as we were in South Africa when it was Mother's Day in the UK, we decided to celebrate today.

We went for cream teas at Saville Gardens and for a stroll in the Windsor Great Park afterwards.

The weather was glorious which made for a lovely afternoon.

The clematis that is taking over the world!

(posted by Elizma)

This clematis has been growing in our garden for the past few years. It's made its way up the other bushes in our garden and it's spectacular this year. It's such a pity that it will have to go once we start with the extension...
