Top Golf
We went to play Top Golf last night. As usual it was a lot of fun. I think my dad enjoyed it especially. I was very impressed with my Mom's skill - or should I say luck ;-)
Welcome to the chronicles of our adventures abroad.
We went to play Top Golf last night. As usual it was a lot of fun. I think my dad enjoyed it especially. I was very impressed with my Mom's skill - or should I say luck ;-)
We also went to Trafalgar Square which they put to lawn to promote the city's local neighbourhoods - click here for The Times' article.
Last Friday we went to the Chelsea Flower Show. It was great to see it in person, but it definitely doesn't look the same as it does on television. There aren't as many gardens as it seems on television and there are thousands of people, making it difficult to get a good view of everything.
It was a nice (albeit expensive) experience however...
Here we are at the South African exhibition from Kirstenbosch which won a silver medal.
We also had to have a glass of the popular (and very refreshing) British drink, Pimms.

We used our new gas barbeque for the first time yesterday and it was a nice occasion as we could watch some good rugby at the same time.
The fact that both the Sharks and the Bulls are through to the final or the Super 14 tournament caused for some serious celebration.
Johan and Celia joined us for the evening as well and this morning we had a champagne breakfast to celebrate the rugby, new jobs, cars and houses. We're all very blessed!
On Saturday, Leon's cousin Monique and her partner Duncan came around for lunch. It was quite the occasion as Leon and Dad Bill haven't seen Monique in the 20 years since they immigrated to Australia.
We had a lovely afternoon and really appreciated the fact that they drove about 2 hours from Cambridge just to come and see us.
On Wednesday we surprised my parents with a trip to Keukenhof in the Netherlands. We flew from Gatwick airport at 06:15 to Amsterdam where we caught a bus to Keukenhof. It made for a very early start! We flew back the same night.
At first we were a bit disappointed at Keukenhof because we were a few weeks too late and most of the tulips have finished flowering. It was still a very beautiful park with orchid and lily exhibitions. Afterwards we went back to Amsterdam and wandered around there for a few hours. We're all of the same mind: we don't really like it much - it feels quite dirty.
Last Sunday afternoon we drove to a picturesque village called Shere. It has been the location for many recent films such as the church scene in Bridget Jones' Diary, The Edge of Reason as well as more recently, The Holiday with Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet. It is really very pretty. We had tea with scones and clotted cream at the Lucky Duck.
